Log in to the server with SSH by using the username you specified during application. A temporary password was emailed to you.

On linux:

you@your_computer:~$ ssh username@web.ee.sun.ac.za
Password: 
Last login: Thu Feb 23 11:36:10 2012 from you.sus.sun.ac.za
username@web:~$ 

On windows you will need to use Putty.

When you are logged in, type:

username@web:~$ passwd
Changing password for username.
(current) UNIX password: 

You will be asked for your current password, followed by the new password. Your password is now changed. To log out from the SSH session, type:

username@web:~$ exit

You can now try to log in again using your new password.


If you have forgotten your password, email the server admin, explaining you problem and giving your name, student number and username of your account.
